Ladies & Gentlemen are really proud to have been part of the success of "Sink" over the previous weekend at the Silverskerm Fees. The film came in with 9 nominations, winning 5, including best cinematography for Trevor Calverly.
From a colourist perspective the film came with its challenges but overall it was great to work with a well thought out production design, DOP and director, (Brett Michael Innes.) Shot on the RED Epic, with Kowa anamorphic lenses and a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, all of which contributed to a very cinematic feel.
The chosen colour palette lent itself to the suburban aesthetic, with subtle variation between time differences, past and present. Pale greens, blues and pinks with creamy skintones for daytime flashbacks, slightly less saturated and darker for present day. Night exteriors ended up being a blueberry, inky black, also fitting into the strong palette. The more attention paid to colour from before the light even hits the sensor, the better. Set design, clothing, make-up and lighting make it so much more seamless in pulling together the final look.
It was an absolute pleasure working with this team and we look forward to future collaborations.
